Overview

A Senior Scientist is responsible for providing scientific contribution which meaningfully impacts product development and business outcomes, and positions Waters as the leading specialty measurement company. This includes developing new science, technologies, methods and practices, as well as generation and presentation of scientific content using Waters product portfolio to support business activities and new product development.

Responsibilities

  1. Accountable for own work, safety and operation of instrumentation.
  2. Has developed market and competitive awareness.
  3. Independently analyzes and interprets data and results.
  4. Will be required to work autonomously and be adept at problem solving.
  5. Operating, maintaining and troubleshooting prototype instrumentation.
  6. Continue to develop skills on current/relevant techniques.
  7. Routine involvement in, and management of, internal and external collaborations.
  8. Interacts and works routinely with groups outside Scientific Operations, specifically marketing.
  9. Contributes to scientific methods and policies.
  10. Develop design of experiments independently and assists others.
  11. Identify and improve existing processes and workflows with a solution focus.
  12. Provide direct customer support with guidance.
  13. Engage and support customers to understand trends in the relevant market and technology segments.
  14. Produces data, results and collateral for marketing literature and product launches.

Qualifications

  1. Degree in relevant scientific discipline, a higher degree is preferred.
  2. Knowledge and experience sufficient to advance the scientific field and analytical technology.
  3. Biological mass spectrometry (large molecule) experience.
  4. Nano-electrospray ionisation experience.
  5. Native mass spectrometry experience.
  6. Working with a mass spectrometry product development environment.
  7. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  8. Travel may be required.
