Job Description

Planet Pharma is seeking an experienced and highly motivated scientist to drive innovation in cancer diagnostics. This role will focus on identifying emerging technologies, assessing market opportunities, and contributing to research and development efforts, particularly in Next- Sequencing (NGS). The ideal candidate will collaborate cross-functionally to advance cutting-edge solutions in molecular oncology.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Technology & Market Assessment: Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, research advancements, and platforms in cancer diagnostics, with a strong emphasis on NGS. Assess their potential to address prioritized clinical needs.
  2. Intellectual Property & Innovation: Work with legal teams to identify and protect patentable inventions. Contribute to IP strategy and support the filing and management of patents based on research discoveries.
  3. Method Development: Conceptualize and implement novel methodologies to address critical gaps in cancer diagnostics.
  4. Competitive Analysis: Analyze competitor technologies and platforms to identify market opportunities and areas for differentiation.
  5. Feasibility Studies: Collaborate with bioinformatics teams to design and conduct feasibility studies, evaluating the scientific, commercial, and operational viability of new technologies.
  6. Sample Procurement & Collaboration: Work with internal and external teams to source clinical and test samples necessary for project success.

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Education: Ph.D. in Genetics, Genomics, Molecular Biology, or a related field (with a focus on cancer); or MS/BS with significant experience.
  2. Proven experience in molecular biology, genomics, and NGS laboratory work.
  3. Industry experience in cancer diagnostics.
  4. Experience in patent filing and IP strategy.
  5. Advanced proficiency in laboratory techniques, particularly NGS.
  6. Strong understanding of cancer biology, cancer genomics, and diagnostics.
  7. Ability to critically evaluate, compare, and conceptualize innovative solutions.
  8. Strong analytical skills for assessing emerging technologies and market trends.
  9. Adaptability in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment while maintaining research quality.
