Job description

A great new job opportunity has arisen for a committed Charge Nurse to work in an exceptional mental health hospital based in the Stockton-on-the-Forest, York area. You will be working for one of UK's leading health care providers.

This is a medium secure psychiatric hospital, which cares for both mental illness and learning disability patients, including an Autistic Spectrum Disorder service and a female service.

To be considered for this position you must be qualified as a Registered Nurse (RMN or RNLD) with a current active NMC Pin.

As a Charge Nurse, your key responsibilities include:

  • Apply relevant policies and statutory requirements within the ward and hospital framework of governance and communicate requirements to the wider team.
  • Ensure that risk is assessed and managed across the immediate and wider working environment and that statutory requirements are met.
  • Respect and apply the requirements of diversity and inclusion, promoting and role modelling these across the team.
  • Identify deficits in skill mix and safe staffing levels and act to address these.
  • Supervise a defined group of team members and contribute to their overall CPD, mandatory training, and appraisal process, recognising the skills required across the team. This will also include addressing any performance issues that are below the expected standard.
  • Act as a role model to promote a culture of learning development, inquiry, and a team vision.

The following skills and experience would be preferred and beneficial for the role:

  • Clinical supervision experience essential, training desirable.
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development and intent to maintain and develop leadership skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Demonstrable expertise within a clinical specialty.

The successful Charge Nurse will receive an excellent salary of £48,354.80 per annum. This exciting position is a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours a week. In return for your hard work and commitment, you will receive the following generous benefits:
