My client in the Enfield area is seeking a Senior RF Engineer due to expansion.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Position: Senior RF Engineer

Business unit: UK Radar & Naval Solutions

Reporting to: Engineering Software Security Manager

Location: Enfield, United Kingdom

My client is a world leader in the development, manufacture and supply of maritime navigation and surveillance radar systems. My client employs over 170 employees and is headquartered in Enfield, North London. The company sets the international standard in solid state radar sensor technology with SharpEye and its market leading navigation and tactical radar display systems.

Job Scope

The Senior RF Engineer is responsible for significant work packages of RF/Microwave module development, test and support. They support other areas of the business with RF design expertise.

Job Functions

  1. Proactively lead RF equipment development, via internal or sub-contracted work packages.
  2. Maintain RF designs - e.g., for Product Improvements or Obsolescence.
  3. Oversee derivation of requirements and specifications and their verification & validation.
  4. Provide technical support to Supply Chain, Quality, Suppliers and Customers.
  5. Support external RF designs and maintain RF Production Tests.
  6. Support RF module manufacture - responding to technical issues, undertaking trend analysis and root cause analysis.
  7. Ensure that Engineering Procedures are correctly followed, and the quality is maintained through design and manufacture.
  8. Generate Estimates, Plans and generally manage small work packages.
  9. Ensure adequate documentation is maintained.
  10. Any other tasks associated with this role.

Requirements

Essential

  1. PCB Design at microwave frequencies - comfortable with manipulating schematics and defining/reviewing required layout.
  2. RF Component selection; knowledge of High Power RF amplifier, Low Noise Amplifiers, Limiters, Circulators, Filters, Mixers and Phase Locked Loop usage.
  3. RF System Design (e.g. Cascade Analysis).
  4. Familiarity with RF test equipment (e.g. Spectrum Analysers, Vector Network Analysers).
  5. Design for test and design for manufacture.
  6. Experience of a Production Environment (e.g. good understanding of processes such as SMT).
  7. Self-motivated and enjoys working within a team.
  8. Good command of written and verbal English.

Desirable

  1. Familiar with Altium PCB Design Software.
  2. Working knowledge of Radar or closely related applications (e.g., Comms).
  3. Experience of any of the following:
    1. Knowledge of digital electronics or power supply design.
    2. Experience of requirements management and/or systems engineering disciplines.
    3. Test Automation (e.g. through MATLAB or Python).
    4. EMC.
    5. Regulatory compliance (e.g. FCC, ITU or ETSI requirements).
