Location: Hertfordshire - Office Based

Salary: Up to £53,000

Hours: Monday to Friday 9 am to 5.30 pm

About the position of Senior Residential Mortgage Underwriter:

We have a great new opportunity for an experienced residential mortgage underwriter to join an established, successful and growing specialist lender. As a Senior Residential Mortgage Underwriter, you will support the Underwriting Manager in their absence and act as an SME to the rest of the underwriting team.

Responsibilities:

1. Support the Underwriting Manager, deputising in their absence.
2. Act as an SME to the underwriting team.
3. Assess mortgage applications to ensure all aspects of our underwriting criteria are met.
4. Provide concise and accurate updates to brokers.
5. Proactively chase brokers for outstanding requirements.
6. Ensure all underwriting is in line with Company policy and within regulation.
7. Ensure that all cases are underwritten within the group's risk appetite.
8. Build good relationships with 3rd party suppliers including brokers and solicitors to assist in the smooth business flow.
9. Maintain a pipeline of cases, overseeing cases from inception through to completion.
10. Maintain broker relationships that are integral to growth.

Experience and skills required:

1. Experience gained with a residential mortgage lender is essential, ideally with a specialist lender.
2. Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
3. Results-driven.
4. Good problem-solving skills.
