Job description

Healthshare is a successful provider of clinical and diagnostic services to the NHS and private sectors across various locations throughout the country.

The Riverside Clinic imaging department is comprised of 3T MRI, DXA and X-RAY.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Radiographer who is willing to learn and develop and to contribute to providing a high quality, efficient and effective service within the imaging department. With responsibility for the day-to-day running of DXA, X-ray and MRI lists, Radiation Protection management, quality management of equipment and images, and administrative duties as required to maintain an efficient service.

The post-holder should possess a BSc/DCR in Radiography, or equivalent and be a HCPC state-registered Radiographer.

You will be expected to promote the highest quality healthcare as part of the multidisciplinary team and maintain a high professional and technical standard. You will also be responsible for managing the workflow and ensuring all data input is recorded accurately for both patient record integrity and statistical evaluation purposes.

Main duties of the job

To contribute to providing a high quality, efficient and effective service within the Imaging Department, with responsibility for the day-to-day running of DXA, X-ray and MRI lists, radiation protection, quality management of equipment and images and administrative duties.

To ensure an exemplary level of customer service is provided to patients, consultants and the clinic team at all times.

To perform a range of general and specialised examinations to include MRI, DXA and X-ray (including using the image intensifier in theatre), maintaining the highest professional and technical standards, whilst promoting high professional and ethical standards of clinical practice to ensure that all aspects of clinical governance are fulfilled.

To promote the highest quality healthcare as part of the multidisciplinary team and maintain a high professional and technical standard through personal Continuing Professional Development.

To manage the workflow and ensure all data input is recorded accurately for both patient record integrity and statistical evaluation purposes.

Job responsibilities
  1. To exercise the highest standard of patient care and actively improve the patient experience.
  2. To act as the justifying radiographer for X-Rays and uphold best practice with regard to radiation protection.
  3. Perform pre-examination safety and identification checks with patients and staff.
  4. Perform examinations either in person or as part of the team, maintaining high professional standards and supporting and monitoring the quality standards of the directorate.
  5. To demonstrate skill in adapting techniques to achieve high quality diagnostic products in patients whose condition would otherwise prevent this, without compromising care, when dealing with patients who are in pain and distress.
  6. To provide a safe environment for both staff, patients and visitors, complying with current legislation relating to all aspects of health and safety, IRMER and IRR17, reporting any untoward incidents and being involved in risk assessments and incident reporting.
  7. To vet specific imaging requests as required with advice and guidance from the Imaging Lead.
  8. To ensure that any faults are recorded and reported to the Imaging Lead. To liaise with engineers as required.
  9. To ensure equipment quality assurance is carried out as required and to seek advice from appropriately qualified advisors on Radiation Protection (RPA) and quality assurance.
  10. To follow all relevant safety and recommended guidelines.
  11. To be conversant with the patient RIS/PACS system, understand the appointment and bookings system and take part in the management of emergency, private or short notice bookings.
  12. To work with the Imaging Lead to ensure turnaround times and strategic targets are adhered to at all times with reference to reporting and vetting/booking and any non-conformances are managed and/or justified appropriately.
  13. To participate in the extended working day and bank holiday rota as appropriate. To be flexible with shift patterns in view of staffing levels and training needs.
  14. To actively participate in clinical and service audit or research to improve and monitor service.
  15. To monitor and maintain stock levels for consumables and liaise with appropriate staff.
  16. To participate in any appropriate clinical/communications meetings.
  17. To assist in the induction and training of new staff.
  18. To ensure that urgent findings are communicated with clinicians.
  19. To ensure appropriate patient consent has been acquired for imaging examinations.
Person Specification
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years post registration experience
  • Excellent radiographic knowledge and recent plain film experience
  • Ability to deliver excellent patient care
  • Ability to perform MRI examinations and be willing to further train.
  • Experience in performing DXA examinations.
Qualifications
  • BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent
  • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered
  • Maintains a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Portfolio
