Senior Quantity Surveyor

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Up to £85,000 - Watford

2 days office, 2 days site, 1 day remote.

We are working on behalf of a SME Contractor who are looking for a Senior level Quantity Surveyor to join its North London Commercial team in Watford to help deliver a variety of new build Social Housing and Education premises within the private and public sector, ranging from £2m to £18m.

The Role:

1. You will report directly to the Commercial Manager and be expected to be hands-on whilst supporting junior commercial staff in carrying out the full range of quantity surveying duties.
2. This will include day-to-day cost control, cash management, subcontractor management, risk management, financial reporting (CVR/PPR), preparation in valuations (internal/external), record keeping, contractual disputes, and general administration.
3. The position will involve working within a busy Quantity Surveying department on new build and refurbishment schemes.
4. The role will suit someone with drive and ambition and be willing to take ownership of scheme(s), to push them forward towards the required start on site.

The Person:

1. You must have a proven track record in quantity surveying within the residential sector ideally on new build schemes.
2. Stable working history with Contractors or Developers.
3. Excellent communication skills.
4. The role will involve liaison with internal customers, clients, and the supply chain.
5. A track record in commercial management from within a recognised contracting organisation.
6. Experience working with a number of clients and building relationships with external customers.
7. Experience of new build contracting.
8. Understanding of various Contract forms.
9. Be a competent negotiator who is able to agree rates/prices without compromising company margins.
10. Have a good knowledge in terms of regulations, current materials, rates, prices along with good commercial awareness.
11. Be an excellent communicator.
12. Track record in dealing with contractual claims and a high degree of contractual awareness.
13. Proven track record in managing staff.
