Job description

Senior Quantity Surveyor Required

My client is looking to take on a Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS) to join their team working on critical projects, driving and developing the contract value, and tracking the contract and project performance across all service streams. This role will see you working for a very large and reputable business well set in the Facilities Management sector, thriving on prioritizing people in everything they do, allowing opportunities for everyone to develop and find progression in the direction that best suits.

Senior Quantity Surveyor Role

To continue to develop and implement a consistent framework for the projects, as well as developing and adapting a proactive approach to risk management, reducing risk to as low as possible. The role will include leading assessment and delivery of projects and being responsible for the line management to QA functionality to support all contract outputs.

  1. Implement, direct, monitor, and control the commercial framework consistently across the group business, including customer contracts, risk, and legal requirements.
  2. Continuous drive to improve the profitability and competitive performance of the business through selling and negotiating skills and maximizing opportunities.
  3. Relentless pursuit of reduced risk and optimized profit across the suite of contracts in place and support the drive to obtain additional valuable opportunities as they arise.
  4. Establish business relationships with operations, estimators, commercial & finance functions with BT group/Data Centre Customers.
  5. Analyze rates & prices, agreements of variations and/or compensation events as required.
  6. Have knowledge and understanding of various contracts including JCT/NEC/MF1.
  7. Provide monthly business analysis to the business unit heads and directors.
  8. Provide commercial input to business proposals. Full responsibility for the negotiations, valuations, interims, and final accounts.
  9. Protect the client image through the application of professional commercial practice and principles.
  10. Provide effective and appropriate leadership, including team spirit and company ethos, culture, and values.
  11. Accountable for own development plan for continuous improvement of competencies in relation to the client career development program.

Qualifications and Skills Required for the Senior Quantity Surveyor
  1. Experience working in a critical/industrial environment where projects operate with a 'get it right first time' mentality.
  2. Extensive experience in a projects environment of value-led sale pricing and general cost estimating.
  3. Experience in QS environment dealing with agreeing all final accounts.
  4. Experienced in prepping and presenting Contract reviews.
  5. Understanding of risk management.
  6. Strong analysis and report writing skills.
  7. Ability to contribute to the development of long-term business plans and commercial strategy.
  8. Previous experience working with NEC/JCT/MF1 Contracts.
  9. Qualified to degree level in commercial management and/or quantity surveying.
  10. Full UK Driver's license.
  11. Willingness to work away from home for short periods occasionally.
