Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Barlborough
Reporting to: CFO/Construction Director
Employment Type: Full Time

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Quantity Surveyor to join my clients team and take ownership of managing project costs, ensuring value for money, and driving efficiency across all stages of construction. Working closely with the CFO and Construction Director, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality, cost-effective projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Cost Management: Prepare and manage cost budgets, Predicted Final Accounts (PFA), and ongoing financial tracking to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  2. Tendering & Procurement: Prepare tender packages, analyse subcontractor quotations, and lead pre-let interviews to select the best value contractors.
  3. Subcontractor Management: Place and issue orders, oversee monthly valuations, payments, and variations while maintaining robust cost controls.
  4. Value Engineering: Work collaboratively with design and construction teams to identify and implement cost-saving solutions without compromising quality.
  5. Reporting: Provide regular reports on costs, cash flow, and budget forecasts, identifying potential overruns early.
  6. Team Leadership: Mentor and support junior team members, helping to build and grow the QS team as the business scales.
About You

We're looking for a proactive and skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor with:

  1. Proven experience in quantity surveying within the construction sector.
  2. A track record of managing costs effectively across multiple projects.
  3. Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry regulations.
  4. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal teams and subcontractors.
  5. Leadership capabilities to mentor junior staff and shape a growing team.
