BAM Construction is recruiting a Senior Project Surveyor to join our team based out of our offices in Stepps and covering projects across the central belt of Scotland.

You will be reporting directly to the Commercial Manager / Managing Surveyor, and you will have direct responsibility for the successful commercial management of the project, working pro-actively and collaboratively as an integral member of both the site and wider Client team.

Your mission

Duties will include, (but not be restricted to):

1. Timely procurement and commercial management of subcontract / supply chain, including:
1. Ensuring subcontractor / supply chain compliance / competency with both Business and specific project requirements prior to issue of any tender enquiry.
2. Agreement of specific Work Package scope of works and the preparation of all relevant documentation for formal subcontract / supply chain enquiries / procurement.
3. Preparing, where required, Bills of Quants for subcontractor packages.
4. Procurement negotiations, including agreement of S/C / supply chain terms and conditions.
5. Analysis / reconciliation of returned tenders and the preparation of the final subcontract recommendation.
6. Producing and issuing out robust and relevant subcontract / supply chain order documentation in a timely manner.
7. Commercial responsibility throughout the project on all matters relating to subcontract work packages, and all relevant supply chain matters.

Project Delivery:

1. Working closely and collaboratively with the Project manager, and the rest of the team, to ensure the successful delivery and financial outcome of the project.
2. Involvement in the development of design and procurement strategies to maximise opportunities and minimise / mitigate risk.
3. Involvement in identifying key project risks and opportunities, together with risk mitigation strategies.
4. Production of Monthly and Quarterly Cost Reports including project margin projections and cashflow forecasts.
5. Ensuring compliance with Business requirements and Best Practice procedures.
6. Production of monthly valuations and agreement with client representatives.
7. Measurement, valuation and negotiation of Client Variations.
8. Preparation and negotiation of Project Final Accounts.
9. Fostering, and maintaining, professional relationships at all times with Client's, Consultants and our Supply Chain Partners.

Who are we looking for?

1. Preferably be qualified at degree level, or working towards MRICS or equivalent professional level.
2. Must be able to work across central belt of Scotland. Preferably experience with a Main Contractor background.
3. Have the depth of experience and competencies required of the role.
4. Be a positive and proactive individual that works collaboratively with colleagues, our supply chain partners and the wider client team.
5. Share the same general values and ethos as the Business, and promote these, at all times, both internally and externally.
6. Be a confident and astute negotiator.
7. Have a clear and proven understanding of the importance of positive working relationships with all parties.
8. Have the confidence and ability to work within a team environment, and to have a positive influence on outcomes.
9. Have good communication skills and conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times.
10. Be confident and experienced in the use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and computer aided measurement tools.
