Join us and help drive innovation and sustainability in our projects.
Role Context:
As Senior Project Manager at Worley you will be supporting the project development phase on Xlinks PMC.
We are looking for a highly skilled Project Manager with technical expertise in HVDC Convertors and PMC.
Renewable generation (PV and wind), battery storage, onshore distribution and transmission systems, MV and HV substations, HVDC converter stations, and offshore DC links will be viewed as a single integrated system that has to perform in the most demanding conditions for a power system as an island on the Morocco side and grid-connected with the UK National Grid on the other side.
You'll be:
The technical, commercial assurance expertise that covers the project development in all critical areas to adequately support Xlinks’ project deliverables.
Adopting an integrated power system mindset which will reduce the potential for repetitive iterations in the Development Phase in relation to engineering activities, including sizing, designing, simulations, testing, and verifications.
The responsible SPM ensuring that all power system components from generation in Morocco to interface connection with the UK National Grid will be suitable for and operate as an integrated power system.
Supporting and leading to Xlinks investors that the designed power system can maintain the security, stability, and continuity of power supply.
Key requirements:
Implementation of a legislative and regulatory framework for the system on the Moroccan side, with clear technical parameters defined for an island operation to substitute the normal grid codes applicable to interconnected systems.
The interconnection with the UK National Grid will follow the conventional UK legislation and grid code. Ensure the project specifications are met in full and should any deviations arise, these will be enacted upon with a proposed solution.
Select the PV systems, wind turbines, and battery systems, and their size. Ensuring that their power converters perform as expected in the designed system.
Sizing the battery system will be made in a dynamic way as it plays the most significant role in maintaining the stability and security of the system.
Design for the power cables, MV and HV substations, distribution, and transmission system follows, with the design of the HVDC converters and offshore DC cables being performed in parallel.
Provide expertise for the cost-benefit analysis, design process, safety in design, RAM study, power system simulations, manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning.
Oversee that control systems are in place to demonstrate that the designed system is capable of secure and reliable operation.
Familiarity and interpretation of power system studies performed to demonstrate that the designed system meets technical requirements and expectations.
Understanding EMS/SCADA system with a proper cyber security philosophy.
You’ll Have:
BSc/BEng qualified in the stated discipline. Chartered Engineer and Member of the relevant institution.
Post graduate experience in the stated discipline, with extensive experience in the power industry on projects relevant to this type of project, and with demonstrable ability to operate at the level defined.
