Overview:
VANRATH is thrilled to collaborate with a leading electric vehicle (EV) company operating across Northern Ireland and Ireland. We are looking for a Technical Manager to join this rapidly expanding business, providing the right candidate with a dynamic and growth-oriented environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking organisation that places great value on its employees.

About the Role:
As the Technical Manager, you will play a vital role in overseeing the company's technical operations, helping clients transition from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to battery electric vehicles (BEV). Your expertise will guide the company's technical processes, ensuring quality and efficiency across various projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the technical team, fostering collaboration, implementing systems, and setting productivity standards for smooth operations.
  • Provide in-depth technical guidance on the installation of EV charge points, including the design, scope, and pricing documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, subcontractors, and the sales/technical support teams to ensure seamless execution throughout the installation process.
  • Oversee the bill of materials for projects, ensuring accuracy and the optimisation of resources.
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams, field operations, contractors, and equipment suppliers, ensuring technical feasibility and adherence to standards.
  • Manage the DNO (Distribution Network Operator) application process, tracking and providing regular status updates.
  • Work with the operations team to guarantee compliance with relevant standards, risk assessments, and environmental policies.
  • Be the point of contact between the technical team and field operations, ensuring smooth project transitions from survey to implementation.
  • Contribute to the commercial and strategic analysis of products and projects, assessing risks and opportunities, particularly those requiring electrical installations.
  • Lead technical training initiatives across the organisation, ensuring teams, including customer service and support, are fully equipped with the knowledge and skills needed.
  • Deliver projects effectively in a fast-paced environment, ensuring compliance with process standards, procedures, and statutory requirements.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering (BSc or higher), or relevant experience (NVQ Level 3-7).
  • A solid electrical background is preferred, particularly with hands-on experience in technical operations.
  • Previous leadership or people management experience is essential.
  • Strong project management skills, with a proven ability to handle complex technical details.
  • Experience with the tendering and pricing process for technical projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of DNO applications in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
  • Familiarity with grid infrastructure and low-voltage electrical systems is preferred.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of BS7671 and IET guidance related to EV charging standards.
  • A degree in a relevant field or Chartered status will be advantageous.

This is a unique opportunity to join a company at the forefront of the EV industry, with a clear path for growth, a competitive salary, and excellent benefits. You'll be part of a team driving the future of sustainable energy solutions, with the added benefit of hybrid working and an EV car for personal use.
