Great British Nuclear (GBN) is a new government arm’s length body supporting the delivery of Britain’s energy security and net zero, making sure that we can power Britain from Britain sustainably. It has been set up to turn nuclear ambition into reality.

GBN’s first step was to start the technology selection process for Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in July 2023. SMRs can potentially be quicker to deploy and less expensive to build than traditional nuclear power plants because they are smaller, have factory based modular manufacturing, and more flexible deployment options.

Job profile

The SPM Delivery Lead will be responsible for ensuring the successful integration and alignment of all project components across multiple business units. This leadership role will oversee complex projects, driving seamless coordination between various stakeholders and workstreams across the target operating model. The role will also involve managing the integration of governance, processes, systems, data and resources to achieve strategic objectives, ensuring that all deliverables are aligned with business outcomes.

Day to day duties:

• Lead and manage the integration of multiple projects, ensuring all functions, systems, and processes align effectively.
• Oversee project teams to ensure the timely and efficient integration of project components, maintaining adherence to scope, budget, and timelines.
• Develop and maintain detailed project integration plans and schedules, ensuring smooth handoffs and transitions between phases.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to manage project dependencies, risks, and resource allocations.
• Facilitate regular communication and reporting to senior leadership, stakeholders, and project managers, keeping all parties informed on project progress, risks, and milestones.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, ensuring potential disruptions are addressed and managed proactively.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and support to project managers and integration teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
• Champion process improvements, driving best practices for project integration and project management.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and industry standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with external and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment and buy-in for all project deliverables.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

• Proven experience in managing complex project integrations within a fast-paced, multi-functional environment.
• Experience of delivering complex capability transformation projects.
• In-depth knowledge of project/programme management methodologies (APM/MSP) and their application to complex integration projects.
• Strong experience in stakeholder management, ensuring cross-functional collaboration and alignment.
• Expertise in the integration of people, processes, and systems to deliver project success.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to guide and motivate large, diverse project teams.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to tailor messages to various audiences, including senior leadership, clients, and team members.
• A strong understanding of risk management and the ability to anticipate, identify, and mitigate project risks.
• Ability to drive continuous improvement and streamline processes to ensure project success and efficiency.
• Solid problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented approach to resolving project-related challenges.
• Exceptional organisational skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to assess, prioritise, and manage project risks and integrate resources effectively across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field (required).
• Project Management Professional (AMP), MSP, or equivalent certification (desired).
• Experience of delivering major projects.
• Experience of delivering government procurements.
