Job description

Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager for our client, a local government organisation in Bristol. The successful candidate will work as part of a programme team delivering new, extended, or redeveloped locations to help increase placements for children & young people with Special Educational Needs (SEND). Projects range from repairs and maintenance, through redevelopment of existing locations to the construction of new spaces. This is initially a 6 month contract with the possibility to extend after that date. The role is hybrid, with regular attendance on site in Bristol necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Successfully shapes, plans, and delivers projects on time, to budget, and to the desired outcome through the effective application of the most appropriate project management methodology.
  • Develops and maintains a detailed project plan, dealing with complex internal and external dependencies effectively. Uses the plan collaboratively to drive, monitor, and report on progress and to forecast timescales, completion, resources, and costs effectively.
  • Identifies the skills and resources needed to deliver the project successfully. Builds the internal team and works with internal specialists to procure or commission appropriate external input to support delivery.
  • Provides leadership to the project team, enabling them to successfully deliver the work for which they are responsible. Achieves this through ongoing supervision, support, and guidance.
  • Actively manages risk through effective analysis, mitigation, and contingency planning.
  • Manages the complex project budget effectively and in line with the council’s financial procedures and regulations. Accurately manages and forecasts expenditure within agreed tolerances, dealing with any variances effectively.
  • Communicates effectively with stakeholders at all levels and across organisational boundaries to ensure alignment to strategic objectives, support a shared vision for the work, and respond effectively to any issues.
Personal Requirements:
  • Experience being a Project Manager on construction projects which range from repairs and maintenance, through redevelopment of existing locations to the construction of new spaces.
  • Relevant Project Management qualification.
  • Relevant construction degree/educational background (Desirable).
  • Public sector experience and understanding of local government regulations on requirements pertaining to construction.
Working Hours:

37hrs / 9:00 am - 17:00 pm / Monday to Friday

Pay:

£500.00 per hour
