Job description

As a Senior Project Engineer (Major Projects) at London Gatwick, you'll be instrumental in leading the design of strategically important, major building projects, typically exceeding £100 million in value. You won't just be managing significant multi-discipline projects; you'll be shaping the future of the world's most efficient single runway airport. London Gatwick is a place where ambition meets opportunity.

You'll have the opportunity to work on the full project lifecycle. Making sure designs meet the project needs and getting the best value for the money spent. You'll work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders up to board level and external design consultants, making sure everything runs smoothly, keeping the project on track, and within the budget.

What is the role?

  • Reporting into the Design Manager, you will play a key role in the team, responsible for owning the end-to-end design process from the start of the project to its completion. This includes overseeing smaller projects as required.
  • Developing project scope to meet the business needs along with delivering effective design management on individual projects.
  • Working with multiple stakeholders to support the successful delivery of projects.
  • Seeking cost effective design solutions and managing external design consultants.
  • Providing technical input to any design changes through the lifecycle of the project.
  • Lead any assigned Design Management resources and fulfil a supervisory role for Project Engineers within the broader programme team.

What are we looking for?

The live environment at London Gatwick requires all our teams to have a flexible and adaptable approach, with problem solving skills and an innovative outlook. Involved in projects from inception to completion you will work alongside multiple stakeholders. In addition, this role requires:
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent in a Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) Engineering discipline.
  • Experience in engineering design or design management on large infrastructure projects, or multi-year programmes with typically values in excess of £100m.
  • Experience in leading delivery teams.

What's in it for you?

Our employees tell us that working here is something special and no day is like another; where our teams do something every day other airports only dream of. Along with a competitive salary, our employees enjoy a range of personal, health and financial benefits, including:
  • 5% Welcome Bonus
  • Performance-based bonus scheme
  • High street shops and restaurant discounts
  • Healthcare scheme
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Professional training to develop
  • Discounted rail travel
