We Are DesignScene. We craft design-led events and experiential marketing campaigns for brands worldwide.

We are looking to recruit an industry-leading Senior Production Manager based in London to lead our creative solutions in digital and technology in live events and experiences with a minimum of 10 years’ agency experience, including at least 2 years in a similar role.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a talented global team on hugely creative and innovative projects. Some of our major international clients include Amazon, Google, Yahoo, T-Mobile, Pinterest, and Live Nation for whom we activate worldwide at markets such as CES, IFA, MIPCOM, and Cannes Lions.

Our focus is creativity with a practical head – we offer creative solutions for our clients that fit within budget and brief and are always looking to push creative boundaries, try new products, processes, and materials, and create industry talking points.

We are looking for a Senior Production Manager who can bring their experience and qualities to enhance our already talented team. They will need to be hands-on to lead and deliver high-profile large projects. They will need to work efficiently across multiple projects with both clients and team members spread across multiple time zones in Europe and the USA.

Overview

What is the purpose of the job?

Reporting into the Production Director and working alongside the studio, producer, and production teams, you will deliver the day-to-day production management of large-scale projects worldwide to an exceptional standard, maintaining the high production values of DesignScene. You will be a hands-on production manager with a proven ability to build collaborative relationships internally and externally with clients and suppliers.

The ideal candidate will have a natural and genuine passion for technical innovation, an outstanding record of delivering projects internationally, and excellent management and organisational skills. Practical skills in a technical production discipline are an advantage.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering innovative execution for clients' events, ensuring all ideas are fit for purpose, continue to push boundaries, and create world-class event executions.

You will be responsible for contracting and managing appropriate external suppliers.

Requirements

What do you have to achieve?

  • Proactive production management and delivery of projects through the triple constraints of cost, time, and quality
  • Efficient and effective pre-production planning
  • Build and develop good client relationships
  • Smooth and efficient onsite project delivery from build to derig
  • All deadlines, both internal and client-led, are met
  • Commercially successful projects - work closely with the project lead to feed in costs and manage the production aspect of the budget

Job Activities – what do you have to do?

  • Lead the production management process on your projects and support the team on their projects as required
  • Manage the onsite production delivery, including client liaison
  • Interrogate and assess production feasibility of client briefs
  • Oversee the smooth and efficient running of the warehouse, ensuring all operational issues are resolved with speed
  • Work with the producers to manage project budgets, taking responsibility for the production costs
  • Conduct detailed site surveys and onsite supplier briefings
  • Build collaborative relationships, internally and externally
  • Contracting and management of suppliers, including cost negotiation
  • Complete project reconciliation including expenses to meet deadlines
  • Stay informed of industry news and champion new products and technology
  • Produce detailed production schedules and other project documentation as required
  • Manage the H&S process, collating 3rd party information and contracting H&S specialists if required
  • Hold supplier debriefs with the project team to take forward any learnings
  • Guide junior team members through internal processes
  • Deal with stress points efficiently and effectively, flagging any critical issues to senior management

What are the skills required?

  • Exceptional organisational and time-management skills
  • Clear communication and excellent interpersonal skills
  • In-depth understanding of creative, design, and production technology
  • The ability to read and interpret technical plans and drawings

What technical knowledge do you need?

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of event and installation production technology, materials, construction techniques, and best practices
  • In-depth knowledge of digital execution, live streaming, recording, and broadcasting
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Apple Keynote, and Cloud Computing Applications
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings. The use of VectorWorks is a bonus
  • Competent use of Google Apps, Microsoft Office, Apple Keynote, Dropbox, and Slack

Discretionary Bonus: based on business & personal performance

Holiday: 22 days paid holiday per year.

WFH: Monday & Friday at home, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in office for full-time staff. Additional 18 bookable WFH/remote days.
