Full Time (37.5 hours per week)

Salary circa £55K depending on experience

We consider all types of flexibility wherever possible, including locations, hours and working patterns.

The role

You’ll sit alongside a passionate and talented multi-disciplinary experience design team, made up of user researchers, product designers, content designers and design operations, who are focused on creating the best digital experiences for Bupa’s customers in the UK.

As Senior Product Designer, you will be responsible for designing and shaping unique, customer-centric experiences from concept to launch within one of our product squads. You’ll work collaboratively in an agile environment alongside experience design peers to create positive experiences that are easy to use and solve the needs of Bupa’s customers. Growing a healthy partnership with your product owner, you’ll be involved in the strategy to drive the product’s direction.

You’ll be a key member of the product design community of practice contributing to peer feedback sessions and using your experience to help Leads mentor and coach other designers in the team.

How you’ll help us make health happen

  • You’ll be hands on across project work within your squad, involved in every stage of a user centred design process from Discovery to Launch.
  • You’ll provide UX direction across Bupa’s digital assets (App, Mobile, Desktop & connected devices) to drive a consistent approach to UX and a seamless experience for customers across products and business units.
  • Contribute to and improve our existing UX toolkit & playbooks.
  • Help build a re-usable framework and templates that other parts of the business can use to adopt a customer centric culture.
  • Educate the business on how to adopt a customer centric culture.
  • Showcase the UX team and our process at external design events and conferences.
  • You’ll mentor, coach and inspire other members of the experience design team, helping to shape the product design discipline.
  • As an experienced voice of the customer, you’ll build advocacy amongst key stakeholders evangelising the principles, standards and processes of UX design.
  • You will contribute to playbacks, design crits and other communities of practice sessions to highlight your discipline’s work, enable constructive feedback and elevate the quality of the craft.
  • Helping to maintain and improve the inherent pillars of our team’s culture: psychological safety, celebrating success, and learning from each other.
  • Advocacy for the adoption of the organisation’s Design System, ‘Anatomy’ and contribution to the community.
  • Create assets for our design system, including helping to document UX research and insight to provide rationale for the team’s design decisions.

Key skills needed

  • You are a product designer who is passionate about designing great customer experiences across multiple products and services.
  • A deep and varied UX experience and comfortable across an end to end, double diamond process.
  • You are confident conducting research and making sense of the insight, engaging in creative exploration, prototyping, testing and validating your ideas, and delivering a final design outcome.
  • Comfortable facilitator who can bring stakeholders together in a workshop, extract information and use it to define a direction.
  • A champion of the customer throughout while staying in touch with the business requirements.
  • You set the standard for your peers and the organisation.
  • Established ‘design thinker’ with empathy for user needs, a willingness to explore ideas and implement a ‘test and learn’ approach before launch.
  • Strong storytelling skills, capable of influencing and encouraging stakeholders and peers to adopt and buy into something that was previously unfamiliar.
  • Accustomed to working in an FCA regulated business is a bonus.
  • Adept in managing complexity across multiple streams of work.
  • Knowledgeable across our toolkit that includes Figma, UserTesting.com and Progression App.
  • A champion for accessibility who acknowledges the needs of users with different backgrounds, abilities, cultures, and environments.
