This role is hybrid working – 1 day per week in London and minimal attendance to Aldermanston, Reading
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Procurement Manager with a strong background in pre-contract procurement within complex infrastructure or construction environments. The ideal candidate will bring extensive knowledge of NEC3/4 contracts and have demonstrable experience managing high-value, multibillion-pound procurements—ideally within the motorways, highways, or rail sectors. A key requirement is proven success in procuring logistics partners for major infrastructure programmes, with a clear emphasis on pre-contract activities. Candidates must show a strategic understanding of the commercial and contractual complexities involved in large-scale procurement.
Outstanding stakeholder management skills are essential, as the role involves close collaboration with senior internal and external stakeholders across highly regulated, multifaceted projects. While end-to-end procurement experience is advantageous, the focus remains on pre-contract expertise. There are no direct line management duties, allowing the successful candidate to concentrate on driving high-impact procurement strategies. A background in public sector procurement is desirable due to the governance involved, though candidates from the private sector with experience in similarly complex, large-scale environments will also be considered. Applicants from local authority, housing, or less complex procurement settings will not be suitable.
