Job Description

As a Senior Procurement Manager, you will:

  1. Lead, manage, deliver and monitor procurement procedures and processes in accordance with relevant legislation and best practice.
  2. Manage the continuous review, development and improvement of systems, processes and services.
  3. Support managers with the procurement of a range of contracts for goods, works and services in accordance with agreed deadlines and performance indicators to ensure value for money.
  4. Collaborate with managers to reduce procurement costs by identifying areas suitable for collaborative contracts and developing appropriate contractual arrangements.
  5. Provide procurement advice, guidance and support to the senior team on strategic procurement matters.
  6. Liaise and communicate with suppliers and contractors, and other organisations, both verbally and in writing as required.
  7. Co-ordinate contract and supplier relationships to develop, review and maintain the contracts register and any approved supplier lists.
  8. Research and analyse procurement projects, advising managers on the appropriate course of action.
  9. Manage the production of procurement related data to meet public procurement obligations and support corporate objectives.
  10. Manage and support a small team.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Procurement Manager should have:

  1. Public sector procurement knowledge and experience, including facilitating public sector tendering activity.
  2. Awareness and knowledge of new procurement regulations, with some experience of managing staff.
  3. End-to-end procurement experience, both strategic and hands-on, particularly in professional services, catering, and cleaning contracts.
  4. Ideally, CIPS certification or working towards it.
  5. Experience as a Procurement Manager or Senior Procurement Officer, with experience in managing/mentoring.
  6. Experience in public sector procurement, indirect procurement of services and goods (mainly FM, corporate, and professional services).
  7. Experience in managing or mentoring a team is essential.
  8. Experience of managing budgets as well as supplier and stakeholder management.
  9. Experience in project management, creating procurement strategies, and understanding public sector procurement-related statutory and legal requirements.
