Job description

Senior Process Technologist (029346) Worksop, England

Why Greencore?

We’re a leading manufacturer of convenience food in the UK and our purpose is to make every day.

We’re a vibrant, fast-paced leading food manufacturer, employing around 13,600 colleagues across 16 manufacturing units and 17 distribution depots across the UK. We supply all the UK’s food retailers with everything from sandwiches, soups, and sushi to cooking sauces, pickles, and ready meals, generating revenues of £1.9bn in FY23.

Our vast direct-to-store (DTS) distribution network, comprising 17 depots nationwide, enables us to make over 10,400 daily deliveries of our own chilled and frozen produce and that of third parties.

Here at Manton Wood, we have a team of around 1,700 colleagues. We produce sandwiches and wraps for some of the biggest retailers in the UK including Co-op, Asda, Morrisons, Boots, Aldi, and Lidl.

Our Manton Wood site has a gym, restaurant with hot food, and a staff shop available to all our colleagues.

What you’ll be doing

As an experienced process development technologist, you will carry out all relevant manufacturing projects to deliver process development and line trials by:

  1. Providing information to support the creation of customer and factory specifications which lead to the production of accurate and appropriate product labelling information.
  2. Being responsible for the planning, preparation, and successful execution of process development and line trials to deliver customer requirements and process improvements.
  3. Providing process guidance and advice to cross-functional manufacturing teams to promote adoption of new practices or processes for increased efficiency.
  4. Monitoring and communicating process trends to ensure launch date adherence, maximum process optimisation, and effective communication to customers.
  5. Challenging and investigating potential continuous improvement projects and facilitating relevant trials to drive process and product enhancement opportunities.
  6. Ensuring the output of all line trials is fully documented with adherence to food safety, quality standards, and customer requirements.
  7. Assessing equipment capability to ensure that process standards are in line with company and customer requirements to drive improvements.
  8. Ensuring that a safe working environment exists for colleagues and that the department meets the standards set out in the Health, Safety, and Environment Policy.

Ideally educated to degree level in a food science or related subject, plus relevant working experience within a food manufacturing environment.

Relevant qualifications essential such as Level 3 Food Hygiene, Level 2 Health and Safety, HACCP Level 2, Sensory Training Level 2, and Microbiological Training Level 2.

Experience in evaluation and interpretation of shelf-life results.
