About the Opportunity

AXIOM is one of the DSA alliance partners and is an unincorporated Joint Venture (JV) made up of three major engineering contracting companies each with complementary capabilities and skills. The members have excellent nuclear pedigrees, demonstrated expertise, and effective track records across the UK nuclear fleet and related nuclear industries.

AXIOM provides process, mechanical, civil structural and architectural, electrical, instrumentation, control, and safety capabilities to support Sellafield Ltd.

As well as having a large, dedicated team working for Sellafield Ltd, each has immense reach-back capability into parent organisations for knowledge, expertise, and innovations gained from within, and external to, the nuclear industry. Examples of other markets include Oil and Gas, Environment, Mining, and Aerospace.

The extensive capacity and capabilities of the AXIOM alliance provide the essential expertise that is crucial to achieving both the designs of the alliance and the wider goals of Sellafield Ltd and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA).

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will be responsible for taking a leading role in the process design development for our projects. You will work within a multi-discipline team to deliver the process design, which typically includes key process engineering activities, process safety assessments, and participation in HAZOPs and design reviews.

Responsibilities will include:

1. Providing functional input to own projects, including, where relevant, leading the input of other engineers to ensure engineering delivery meets scope, time, cost, and quality.
2. Ensure that own work and that of more junior engineers on a project complies with all necessary corporate, departmental, and legislative requirements and procedures, to guarantee that the necessary consistency and quality of delivery is maintained.
3. Carry out engineering calculations and check the work of more junior staff to deliver a quality functional input to projects.
4. Proactively generate value-adding options within projects to offer to clients.
5. Plan and prioritise own work and that of more junior staff so that deadlines are met.
6. Provide functional support and guidance to more junior staff to develop them as individuals and the capability of the team as a whole.
7. Carry out commissioning activities at client site as required, to ensure successful engineering handover.

Here's What You'll Need:

1. Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
2. Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
3. Self-motivated with the ability to work collaboratively and independently.
4. Chartered Engineer status with a recognised professional body (e.g. IChemE) - preferred.
5. Experience of working in highly regulated environments would be advantageous.
