Job description

Overview

Kadant Johnson is seeking a results-driven and hands-on colleague to join our team as a Senior Process and Controls Specialist to support the corrugated packaging industry. This role is based out of Three Rivers, Michigan.

Responsibilities

The Senior Process and Controls Specialist is responsible for the application, development, project management, commissioning, and troubleshooting of industrial automation and control systems used in the corrugated packaging industry. This role will execute and manage control projects to achieve the technical and financial goals of the project by:

  1. Interacting with customers to establish system design parameters
  2. Configuring and testing system
  3. Conducting operator training
  4. Participating in on-site start-up of system
  5. Participating in post start-up system optimization

Additional responsibilities will include providing follow-up technical support and service for control system projects, engaging in technical and commercial activities, supporting the development of Kadant Johnson’s proprietary control systems, and providing sales support for industrial control systems offerings.

Qualifications

The preferred candidate for this position will have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, computer science engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline; have a minimum of five years experience in industrial processes; and experience in designing, maintaining, and optimizing process control systems. In addition, the candidate will have the ability to program using Visual Basic and be familiar with DCS architecture and HMI interfaces, have to be capable of working independently, and must be innovative and self-motivated. The candidate should also be willing and able to travel up to 50-75% to customer sites, including some weekends and occasional holidays.

The successful candidate will have high technical competence and analytical ability, be able to identify significant problems and opportunities, communicate effectively, seek out and seize opportunities, go beyond the normal call-of-duty, find ways to surmount barriers, be resourceful and action-oriented, and show a bias for action (can-do and do-it-now attitude).
