Job description

Senior Practitioner – Leaving Care

All about the role

We are seeking two reflective, proactive, and resilient senior practitioners with a passion for making a real difference working with Care Experienced young people. This is a part time role (18.5 hours).

As a Corporate Parent we want to support our young people to achieve successful transitions into adulthood. We have high aspirations for our young people and aim to achieve the best outcomes through SMART goals and a trauma-informed, relationship-based approach.

At Peterborough, we strive for aspirational outcomes for the young people we support. As a Senior Practitioner in our Leaving Care Service, you will play a crucial role in supporting and advocating for young people. You will be supervising Personal Advisors, working on performance, practice workshops, and aspects of service development.

This is a rolling campaign, so please don't wait for the closing date to apply. We aim to review all applications quickly and contact you soon after your first application.

All about you

You have current registration with Social Work England.

You are diligent and detail-oriented.

You have experience of supporting team members with their development and performance.

You have an in-depth knowledge of current legislation and guidance, particularly around leaving care practice.

You thrive in diverse, supportive teams and feel empowered to make important decisions, using your creativity to solve challenging situations with innovative solutions.

You have excellent interpersonal skills, high motivation, energy, resilience and personal drive, emotional intelligence and self-awareness.

You have a full Driving licence and are willing and able to travel between locations.

All about our Team

We have a supportive management team and committed personal advisors, all of whom are aspirational for our Care Experienced young people. We are compassionate and strengths-based with a great sense of community. Our team dynamics are built on mutual respect, collaboration, and a shared commitment to making a difference. You will be part of a team that values open communication, continuous learning, and peer support.

In 2023, Peterborough’s Children’s Services received an OFSTED judgement of inadequate. Since then, we have been working hard to constantly improve practice and make sure we are getting things right for our young people. It’s an exciting time to join Peterborough and particularly our Leaving Care Service.

We are the first authority in the East of England to be delivering the House Project for our care experienced young people, alongside establishing a new hub for care leavers which will bring new and varied opportunities for working with our young people.

Our purpose-built office offers large river and green space views and is conveniently located near main road and rail transport links, fostering collaboration and seamless integration of services for the best outcomes for children in care.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of this role, please do not hesitate to get in touch with either of our Team Managers, Carol Johnson 07483 975334 or Ishmael Ngundu 07825904147.
