About Us

Sitting at the heart of the University, the Planning and Council Secretariat (PACS) team is responsible for supporting the University’s governance and planning processes, operating its resource allocation and internal charging mechanisms, and driving forward its business intelligence and data governance initiatives.

About the Role

As Senior Planning Officer (Resource Allocation), you will take responsibility for the management and further development of computer-based data models to analyse the collegiate University’s revenue flows and resource allocations. A key part of the role will be to liaise with senior staff to provide modelling required by decision-makers and to develop, refine, and analyse different data sets as required to support evolving strategic planning activities across the collegiate University. You will need to develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of a range of specialised and technical areas related to the Section’s work. You will also oversee the aspects of the section’s work in providing data to support the University’s key decision-making committees, as well as working on statutory returns to public authorities.

About You

You will:

  1. be educated to degree level in a numerate discipline, or have equivalent experience
  2. be an expert user of Microsoft Excel and able to use it to manage large data sets
  3. be able to demonstrate strong numerical analysis skills
  4. have expertise across a range of other software and be able to demonstrate ability to master new technologies
  5. be able to rapidly acquire detailed knowledge about complex processes so that you can confidently talk to colleagues around the university as an expert guide
  6. be able to analyse written and numerical information and draw inferences from the material supported by argument and evidence
  7. be able to demonstrate good written communication skills including the ability to present and explain complex information about data processes and outcomes
  8. be a good communicator and team-worker who can manage their own workload and meet deadlines

This role meets the criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa. The University will meet the cost of the Skilled Worker visa and NHS surcharge for applicants that require a visa.
