Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join our musculoskeletal physiotherapy team. We are looking for a new Band 6 MSK Physiotherapist to provide advanced physiotherapy assessment and management of patients with a wide range of spinal and peripheral conditions. You will be working in a busy, friendly outpatient department seeing both GP and Consultant referrals.


The post holder will be expected to provide regular post graduate training within their clinical specialty and work alongside Band 7s to complete some departmental managerial duties. The Trust has an excellent appraisal scheme and offers regular CPD training.

Dover is a traditional seaside town in the heart of Kent, which is in the midst of a cultural renaissance. Dover's location on the East Kent Coast makes London and France easily achievable in a day, as well as the surrounding but varied seaside towns including vibrant Margate and arty Folkestone. With immediate access to lovely beaches, iconic coastlines and countryside, a variety of small towns within easy reach and reasonable rents and house prices for the South East of England, this area may be what you are looking for. We can normally offer temporary, on-site shared accommodation for an initial period.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform highly skilled assessment and treatment of patients with diverse and complex musculoskeletal disorders.
  2. Be responsible for managing own caseload.
  3. Assist in the planning, co-ordination, delivery and evaluation of the musculoskeletal outpatient physiotherapy service.
  4. Deliver informal/formal clinical education and training to student physiotherapists, junior staff and clinical support staff.
  5. Measure and evaluate own work and current practice through evidence-based practice, clinical audit, and outcome measures.

Applicant Requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Qualifications
Essential Criteria:

  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy /Physiotherapy
  • Appropriate State registration with the Health Professions Council
Desirable Criteria:
  • Membership of the British Association of Occupational Therapy / Chartered Society of Physiotherapy / British Association of Hand Therapy
  • Fieldwork Educators Course/Clinical Educators Course or equivalent
Experience
Essential Criteria:
  • Broad experience as Junior Therapist (Band 5) and evidence of achieving the competencies of the exit gateway at Band 5
  • Experience working as part of a MDT
  • Contribution to clinical education/supervision of less experienced staff/students
Desirable Criteria:
  • Membership of CIG
Skills
Essential Criteria:
  • Evidence of Postgraduate Continued Professional Development in specialist field
  • Involvement in audit, research and understanding quality issues
  • Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio
