Senior PHP Software Engineer

Location: Fully on-site or hybrid (3 days + 2 days WFH) in our GivEnergy UK Head Office in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire (ST5 9HX)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm (flexible)

Experience Level: Due to the nature of the role, we are looking for a solid software developer with at least 5+ years of experience in PHP with Laravel. Some experience with a modern JavaScript framework such as React, Vue, or Angular would be beneficial but not essential.

Salary: £55K - £75k pa DOE (+performance bonus scheme)

We’re looking to grow our team with the addition of several experienced Software Engineers to play a key part in our development of our inverter, battery & EV charging systems. What You’ll Be Doing:

1. Working with the larger team analysing requirements & building new features.
2. Working with & enabling the expert user community.
3. Analysing issues raised and creating releases.
4. Designing, developing and improving automations.
5. Consulting on & executing architectural & tech stack improvements.
6. Maintaining system stability and optimising performance in our AWS environment.

What We’re Looking For:

1. 5+ years’ development experience with PHP and Laravel.
2. 1+ years in a modern JavaScript frontend framework (preferable).
3. Experience writing enterprise, typed PHP, in an object-oriented manner.
4. Including an understanding and competence in:
5. Eloquent, service containers, and other Laravel concepts.
6. AWS (RDS, EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, S3, ElastiCache, SES, API Gateway, Lambda, SSM)
7. MySql/RDBMS.
8. Developing, testing, and consuming RESTful APIs.
