As a Payroll Specialist you will work as part of a team and will support with the processing of six monthly payrolls for approximately 6,000 UK employees ensuring we provide an efficient payroll service to the business.
Responsibilities
- Support on the processing of the company’s payrolls for circa 6,000 employees
- Process all payroll transactions according to HMRC regulations and internal payroll processes.
- Calculate statutory payments accurately such as Statutory Maternity Pay, Statutory Sick Pay
- Calculate manual payments as and when required
- Resolve employee payroll related queries in a timely manner
- Complete third party payments for pensions, court orders etc.
- Produce financial reports as requested by the finance team
- Complete payroll reconciliations on a monthly basis
- Assist with the tax year end procedures
- Assist with the production of P11d’s
- Prioritise and manage your workload to meet the payroll deadlines
- Keep up to date with any changes to statutory regulations and internal payroll processes
- Any other duties necessary as required by the Payroll Manager
Requirements
- A strong payroll background
- Previous experience of processing a payroll end to end is desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of SD Worx/Ceridian payroll system would be an advantage
- A good understanding of PAYE procedures and Pension Auto Enrolment regulations
- Experience in the administration of salary sacrifice arrangements
- Ability to work under pressure keeping to tight deadlines
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Experienced in dealing with confidential information
- A great team player who communicates effectively with colleagues and customers
- Strong numerical skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision where necessary
- Strong Microsoft Office skills – Excel and Word
- Knowledge of Workday would be an advantage but not essential
