Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our acute Children's therapy team based at St Mary's Hospital site. Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust's Children's Occupational Therapy Service provides therapy to inpatients on the paediatric wards, paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and two neonatal units. The post-holder will join the Children's OT team in providing child and family centred care on the paediatric wards as part of a large, passionate multidisciplinary team for infants and children admitted to hospital.
The caseload predominantly consists of infants and children with complex needs following major illness such as meningitis or major trauma, and children with short-term needs following orthopaedic procedures and acute medical episodes. Occupational therapy facilitates safe and timely discharge through early rehabilitation, and liaison with other agencies and services in order to promote smooth transitions between hospital and home, and between specialist and local services.
If you are keen to develop experience in an acute paediatric setting, are innovative, with enthusiasm for development, and an ability to think creatively, this could be your next opportunity. You will be well supported by the Children's Occupational Therapy team, which includes Clinical Lead Specialists in Paediatrics and Neonates.
