The salary for this permanent Senior Nurse/Team Leader job is £40,000 - £42,607.50 per annum.

Main Duties:

  • Lead and support the nursing team to improve the quality of care, providing guidance to colleagues and families. Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring safety and assessing team members' skills.
  • Manage the care for a designated group of service users, coordinating with the multi-disciplinary team, service users, and their families to plan and evaluate care. Assess how policy changes impact service delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Clinical Services/Ward Manager to evaluate potential service users in partnership with Health and Social Services commissioners. Develop, implement, and review care plans based on evidence-based practices.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of service user interactions, adhering to legal and procedural standards, whether manually or electronically.
  • Ensure all clinical staff, including yourself, receive formal supervision and clinical oversight as per Brainkind’s standards. Uphold and monitor high clinical standards.
  • Identify and address training needs, supporting staff development and promoting a learning culture. Encourage sharing of knowledge and adoption of best practices.
  • Educate patients, carers, and colleagues, facilitating their learning through formal and informal teaching. Mentor students and assess their skills as needed.

Requirements of the Senior Nurse/Team Leader:

  • Registered Nurse or degree-level qualification.
  • Experience in specialist palliative or neurological care, depending on service requirements.
  • Proven skills in leading, building, and influencing in a clinical setting.
  • Knowledge of current legislation within the independent care sector.
  • Demonstrable experience of practising in a self-directed and highly motivated manner.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey difficult messages to service users and their families.
  • Negotiation and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage change and performance.
  • Capability to provide teaching and mentorship in a clinical setting.
