An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic, motivated Occupational Health Nurse to join our friendly team in the Occupational Health Service of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
We are looking for a dynamic individual who will have responsibility and accountability for the management of nursing staff in the department. As a senior clinical leader in the team, you will be expected to model high standards, visibly demonstrating a high-quality service. You will take a lead role in reviewing the roles of nursing and AHPs and associated support staff to ensure service needs are met now and in the future. In doing so you will ensure a robust training and education infrastructure is in place to future proof the specialism and attract new nurses and AHPs into Occupational Health.
You will provide strong clinical leadership through a visible presence and provide support, advice and assistance to staff and users of the service. You will play a key role in the establishment and oversight of clinical policies and procedures to support the service moving towards and sustaining SEQOHS accreditation.
We are looking for candidates to have substantial experience within Occupational Health and have a recognised Occupational Health qualification. The post holder will have in-depth specialist knowledge of Occupational Health and experience of quality improvement methods with a proven track record for implementing and maintaining change. Excellent communication and team working skills and a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential as is a drive to deliver Occupational Health differently, the ability to challenge old ways of thinking and the ambition to continuously improve the service ultimately striving for SEQOHS accreditation and an exemplar service. The successful candidate will also have dedicated time allocated for caseload management to maintain their Occupational Health skills. Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share. The role is flexible with hybrid working. There is a robust health and wellbeing offer for staff including an EAP and physiotherapy service.
Our Occupational Health Service has a dedicated Leadership Team, who are dedicated to improving the service we provide. The Occupational Health Services at LTHT are on an improvement journey so this is an exciting time to join the service. Six months ago, we implemented the EOPAS G2 Occupational Health computer system which has transformed how we deliver the service. In the coming year we plan to move towards SEQOHS accreditation. The Occupational Health Team currently comprises of one full time Consultant, an Occupational Therapist, one speciality Doctor in Occupational Health, nurses in bands 5 and 7, an Occupational Therapist, a sessional Psychiatrist and a Clinical Psychologist as well as a supportive administrative team.

The jobholder will have responsibility and accountability for the management of nursing staff and the management of clinical resources and budgets within the Occupational Health (OH) Service.
The jobholder in partnership with the Head of Occupational Health and Business Manager will review the Occupational Health Service to ensure provision of a timely, high quality effective and efficient service within available resources in line with the requirements of SEQOHS accreditation.

The jobholder will take a lead role in raising the profile of the Occupational Health Service with line managers within the Trust and external Customers.
Occupational health for LTHT is currently delivered on the St James Hospital site.
The senior nurse will lead and manage a team of Specialist Practitioners and Nurse Advisers.
During our busiest periods additional nursing staff and associated roles are temporarily recruited and the organisation and line management of these staff will fall within the scope of this role.
The post holder will represent OHS in Health and Wellbeing meetings continually aiming for new ways to improve health and wellbeing of LTHT staff.
