Senior Mental Health Practitioner (Early Days in Custody)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Lewes, a category B men's prison. Free parking and a very welcoming team!

Working in a friendly and supportive team of 6, lots of training and development available depending on what you are keen to continue developing in and free parking on site.

Hours

36 hours a week - Working three days a week, 13 hour shift each, 9am-10pm, with 1 hour break. No weekends or nights.

Salary

This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary up to £52,507 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main Duties of the Job

As a Senior Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

  • Be responsible for assessment and ongoing management of our patients' mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients, assessing their physical, social, and psychological needs to develop a holistic health care plan.
  • Contribute to our nursing strategy and vision to provide outstanding evidence-based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to, and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
  • Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patients' care following our policies and procedures and always considering safeguarding.

Qualifications

  • Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, or Nurse - HCPC / NMC Registered
  • Experience of working within mental health settings, developing knowledge and understanding of this patient group
  • Ability to assess patients to a high standard and conduct risk assessments
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Experience of working collaboratively with other agencies and stakeholders in a multi-disciplinary environment

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community, or prison environment.
