Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our mental health team at HMP Leeds, a category B Prison located in Gloucester Terrace in the Armley area of Leeds in West Yorkshire.

Free on site parking, free gym, lots of opportunity for additional training.

Hours

37.5 hours a week - Monday to Friday 8-4pm, no nights, 1 in 8 weekends and bank holidays.

Salary

This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary of £48,741 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will be:

  • Responsible for assessment and ongoing management of our patients' mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients, assessing their physical, social and psychological needs to develop a holistic health care plan.
  • Contribute to our nursing strategy and vision to provide outstanding evidence-based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
  • Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patients' care following our policies and procedures and always considering safeguarding.

Qualifications
  • Occupational Therapist or Social Worker - HCPC / NMC Registered.
  • Experience of working within mental health settings, developing knowledge and understanding of this patient group.
