Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: Didcot, Oxfordshire

At Cavendish Nuclear we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at our Harwell site.

The role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll oversee and coordinate the work of team members, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely. You will hold and manage Safety Documents to ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and utilise and maintain specialised equipment required for reactor inspections. This role is pivotal in maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency in our operations, and we welcome applicants with a strong background in mechanical supervision and a commitment to excellence.

  • Take positive remedial action on identified unsafe working conditions or practices or refer to your superior any of these for which you cannot achieve any satisfactory solution.
  • Interpret and implement the task, including the associated quality requirements.
  • Complete the scope of work to time and budget constraints.
  • Timely production/completion of any appropriate documentation and records associated with the task (Assembly & Test Plans for example).
  • Maintain good communications between Sites, EDF energy (where applicable) with updates on progress, issues, and possible resolutions.

This role is full time, 37 hours across a 4-day week (Monday – Thursday) and based at the Harwell site in Oxfordshire.

Essential experience of the Senior Mechanical Engineer

  • Previous experience working within a Mechanical Engineering role.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing teams to deliver.
  • Demonstrable experience in covering a variety of tasks across a range of complexities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with other disciplines.
