We are currently working with a respected, design-led consultancy within the built environment sector to find a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer for their London office. With a growing pipeline of work and a strong track record in delivering innovative, sustainable solutions, the team is looking to strengthen its mechanical capability at a senior level.

This role offers the chance to work on a wide variety of technically challenging projects, ranging from refurbishments to large-scale new builds, across multiple sectors. The business supports full project lifecycles, and you’ll play a key role from concept through to delivery. Their structure supports hands-on collaboration, ongoing development, and genuine career progression for ambitious engineers.

The Role

  1. Take a lead role in developing mechanical designs and specifications for building systems.
  2. Oversee the production of technical documentation, reports, and calculations that align with both client requirements and regulatory standards.
  3. Use BIM (Revit) and other relevant tools to support compliant and coordinated design outputs.
  4. Conduct site visits for initial surveys, inspections, and snagging, feeding insights into the design process.
  5. Collaborate with design professionals across architecture, structural engineering, surveying, and contracting.
  6. Attend client and design meetings, offering expertise and creative solutions.
  7. Advise on energy performance, low-carbon strategies, and efficient system design with sustainability front of mind.
  8. Ensure designs meet relevant health & safety legislation, environmental goals, and technical standards.

What They're Looking For
  1. A solid background in mechanical building services design, ideally covering all RIBA stages.
  2. Comfortable working to BSRIA BG6 guidance and delivering coordinated designs across complex projects.
  3. Qualified to HNC/HND level or above in Building Services Engineering or a related field.
  4. Strong proficiency in Revit is essential; experience with IES software would be a welcome bonus.
  5. Confident communicator who thrives in a team environment and is comfortable leading aspects of delivery.
  6. Keen to continue developing professionally; support is in place for those pursuing CEng via CIBSE.

The Offer

This is a great opportunity to join a consultancy that’s modern in its outlook but grounded in quality delivery. You’ll be supported in your career ambitions and exposed to a broad spectrum of work that will keep things interesting and challenging.

The company offers a competitive benefits package, including flexible hybrid working, support for your health and wellbeing, and a clear pathway for advancement. There’s also the potential for additional role-based perks as you progress.
