Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their dynamic design team within the water industry. The successful Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in delivering high-quality, safe, and technically robust design solutions for both clean and wastewater infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Deliver mechanical design outputs that meet safety, quality, and technical requirements.
2. Produce detailed design calculations and drawings for a variety of water and wastewater projects.
3. Lead and support CAD technicians, junior designers, and graduate engineers.
4. Manage and review outputs from subcontracted M&E design teams.
5. Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate equipment.
6. Develop comprehensive design reports, investigations, and technical specifications.
7. Ensure all designs adhere to relevant technical, professional, and corporate standards.
8. Accurately implement and document any project design changes.
9. Provide time estimates for design tasks and packages.
10. Participate in and present at internal and external project and design meetings.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

1. Minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in mechanical design within the water industry.
2. Strong background in hydraulic design principles and applications.
3. Familiarity with electrical design and control systems.
4. Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
5. Registered with a professional engineering body and actively working towards chartered status.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

1. Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
2. Experience in electrical and/or control engineering.
3. Direct experience with both wastewater and clean water treatment systems.
4. Good understanding of construction methodologies and materials.
5. Solid knowledge of engineering drawing standards and best practices.
