Are you an experienced mechanical engineer with a strong background in technical leadership and hands-on problem-solving? Ceto Talent is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer on behalf of a well-established company specialising in intelligent drive technology and systems across multiple industries, including rail, marine, power generation, and oil & gas.

The Role:

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will act as a vital link between the Head of Engineering and the broader engineering team. You will provide technical oversight, manage engineering tasks, and ensure the highest standards of quality and accuracy in mechanical solutions. This is a site-based role in Croydon, working on innovative and complex mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead and manage the engineering team's workload and workshop activities.
2. Conduct and oversee failure analysis, condition assessments, and warranty investigations.
3. Develop method statements, test procedures, and overhaul/reclamation instructions.
4. Review and approve engineering designs, ensuring compliance with relevant standards (BS 8888, ISO 9001:2015, RISAS).
5. Support reverse engineering and re-engineering projects.
6. Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and workshop technicians.
7. Assist in supplier assessment and process improvement initiatives in safety-critical environments.
8. Deputise for the Head of Engineering when required.

What We're Looking For:

1. Professional engineering experience, experience in a leadership role.
2. HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a mechanically biased engineering discipline.
3. Expertise in heavy engineering, rail, marine, power generation, and oil & gas sectors.
4. Hands-on experience with mechanical driveline components such as high-speed gearboxes, couplings, shafts, and rail couplers (advantageous but not essential).
5. Proficiency in CAD software (Siemens NX, Autodesk Inventor, Team Centre).
6. Strong analytical skills, problem-solving ability, and commercial awareness.
7. Excellent communication skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
