The Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a progressive opportunity to work within a supportive team environment, where you will utilise your skills and enthusiasm to develop, integrate and test mission critical systems, at the cutting edge of their domain.

Day-to-day, you’ll lead to provide oversight and technical assurance across multiple engineering projects, challenging the status quo. The engineering activities range from continued support to the overhaul and operation of a broad range of complex assets, upgrade projects to naval platform capability and support to future bid opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Checking for most mechanical engineering deliverables, i.e. technical documentation, 3D CAD and technical drawings, operating instructions.
  • Concept setting out, including material selection, and scoping calculations.
  • Working on the full lifecycle engineering experience.
  • Defining test instructions along with reviewing and interpreting results.
  • Understanding of the non-conformance and change request processes.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days onsite and 3 days working from home. However, you may be required onsite for longer periods of time.

Essential Experience:

  • Mechanical Engineering capabilities including design for manufacture, validation through hand calculation.
  • Able to supervise, co-ordinate or work within a team providing guidance across multiple projects and disciplines.
  • Ability to use systems engineering design processes and adapt them to suit an application.
  • Experienced user of CAD systems for design, modelling, simulation and draughting.

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree, or Higher National Diploma or Higher National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Discipline with demonstrable experience and capability of working in a Senior role.

Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be a SOLE UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role. However, you must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance once in post.
