Job description

Senior Mechanical Engineer
Locations: Bristol, Birmingham, Reading, Exeter area (Hybrid / Flexible office presence)
Salary: Up to 50,000 (depending on experience)

A leading engineering consultancy is seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers with a generalist background to support projects across highly regulated sectors, including nuclear and defence. With multiple positions available, they are particularly interested in individuals who can hit the ground running and contribute to complex engineering solutions in secure environments.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver mechanical engineering expertise across a range of multidisciplinary projects

  • Support the development, design, and assessment of mechanical systems and components

  • Engage with cross–functional teams to ensure project goals are met

  • Contribute to high–integrity work within nuclear, defence, or similarly regulated sectors

  • Apply sound engineering judgment to solve challenging technical problems


Requirements:
  • 4–5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in a highly regulated environment

  • Eligible for Security Clearance (SC)

  • Strong problem–solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a wider team

  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities


Desirable:
  • Experience with nuclear or defence projects

  • Chartered or working towards chartered status

  • Leadership experience for the more senior opening
