Job Description:

Position: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

In this role you will be responsible for product design, development, and detailing utilizing CAD software and other engineering skills/calculations. You will develop engineering solutions and coordinate a team of Designers, being responsible for specific project areas, machines, and technologies while working closely with the Project Engineer to meet assigned targets.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Accountable for the completion of 3D modelling, detail design, technical calculations, and product development as assigned by management utilizing internal software and tools.
  2. Responsible for assigned portions of the product design and development process, ensuring project schedules are maintained while following company standards.
  3. Coordinate and mentor Designer Engineers while maintaining responsibility for projects within specific areas, working closely with Project Engineers to reach assigned targets.
  4. Develop the layout of equipment areas, proposal layouts, and basic engineering of new mechanical equipment based on customer requests.
  5. Carry out complex mechanical calculations.
  6. Participate in commercial/technical meetings worldwide, involving customer interaction and collaboration with other business units such as Civil, Piping, and Automation.
  7. Assist Purchasing, Manufacturing, Erection, and Commissioning Departments during the handling of developed engineering as necessary.
  8. Continuously monitor project progress, identify areas of concern, escalate where necessary, and manage customer expectations.
  9. Support sales activities through drawing/document creation and on-site reverse engineering of products.
  10. Liaise with representatives from suppliers during technical evaluations of project solutions.
  11. Manage expectations, clarify requirements, and make requests, including submission deadline changes, as required.

About You:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in 2D and 3D CAD required (Autodesk Inventor is an advantage but not essential) within an OEM structured engineering department.
  • Knowledge in metallurgy, material science, heat treatment; specific knowledge in cutting, welding, heat treatment, and machining.
  • Proficient in mechanical calculations (NX, MathCAD, Microsoft Excel).
  • Ability to read design/technical documentation freely.
  • Experience with international documentation: technical books, standards, catalogues (AutoCAD, Inventor).
  • Ability to work in international groups and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, focusing on overall results and finer details.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and deliver results on time while managing multiple projects.
  • Experience in structured writing, including technical reports.
  • Willingness to travel regularly for business (worldwide).
  • Basic understanding of product/plant operations and reference information.
