Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Build Strategy

Location: Barrow-In-Furness (Hybrid) – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Responsible for influencing and converting the Engineering Design intent into Manufacturing Engineering data (sometimes complex) for Manufacturing Operations use.
  • Contribute to the management of the Quality and SHE Systems, for Manufacturing Engineering processes and documentation e.g. calling up safe methods of working.
  • Build effective internal and cross-functional relationships to achieve overall Project requirements.
  • Assure product and process quality as determined by company processes. Develop and test new systems when the need arises.
  • Provide decision-making information by reviewing production schedules, estimating future requirements.
  • Agree and prioritise with the customer, emergent work affecting manufacture, fabrication or construction. In doing so, manage the allocated projects and sub-projects from conception to completion with full stakeholder engagement and agreement.
  • Act as a project focal point for discipline-specific tasks ensuring best practices are adopted and embedded.

Your skills and experiences:

  • HNC and/or equivalent, plus substantial experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role or Foundation degree with experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role.
  • Experience in performing root cause analysis and reporting on countermeasures.
  • Professional knowledge of relevant Engineering standards (including SHE regulations).
  • Submarine design, build or operation experience.
  • Experience with SAP, Teamcenter, NX, or JIRA.

The SSNA Manufacturing Engineering team:

Working in either the Process team or Build Strategy team, you will be joining the SSNA programme but will need to collate learning from experience from Dreadnought & Astute when needed. You will be liaising and managing relations with a variety of stakeholders and business teams. You will be playing a key part in supporting the delivery of major projects and gaining exposure to senior stakeholders.
