Senior Manager, Power Markets (PPA Origination)

Summary

This role will play a key role in delivering the regional power market strategy for Europe, which is a key geographical focus for our ambitious plan for growth.

To develop and implement offtake strategy for projects in the development pipeline by securing Power Purchase Agreements or other relevant agreements. Includes marketing, origination, and negotiation of PPAs with utilities and corporates. Multi-country approach focused on Southern Europe and other European markets as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Identifying and developing market opportunities with major energy users and utilities, primarily focused on projects in Portugal, Spain, and Italy.
2. Work with suppliers and other market participants to develop innovative routes to market to secure bankable revenue to support solar development.
3. Work with the legal department, structured finance, and other internal stakeholders to negotiate heads of terms & PPA contracts.
4. Liaise with structured finance, development, and commercial managers to create power marketing solutions that optimize funding opportunities and enable development.
5. Understand developments in the European markets and energy policy and the impact these will have on power marketing in order to keep Lightsource BP at the forefront of the market.

Who We’re Looking For

Knowledge

1. Comprehensive knowledge of the European power markets is a must along with utility scale renewables experience.
2. Multi-year experience of negotiating Power Purchase Agreements in the relevant markets.
3. Successful track record of originating and executing complex energy projects and/or transactions.
4. Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
5. Experience presenting at many levels including internal and external stakeholders and speaking at events.

Experience

1. Deep experience in one or ideally more of the relevant power markets.
2. Origination and negotiation of long-term power purchase agreements.
3. Participation in renewable energy support auctions.
4. Power trading and risk management.
