Position Summary:
A licensed medical doctor with ample experience in shipboard maritime medicine who will be responsible to provide medical support to the operation of the designated medical teams, as well as liaise and engage with senior level colleagues in hotel and maritime operations, local and regional government officials, and leaders of other external organizations, as needed. The support to the shipboard medical teams includes but is not limited to providing guidance to the doctors on the ships via emails, phone calls and coverage of the help line. This position does not make clinical decisions on the treatment of patients at any time or under any circumstances. Shoreside doctors provide guidance and leadership to the shipboard doctors. The final decision on the treatment of any patient, including the need to evacuate a patient relies on the ship’s doctor(s).

Physical Demands:
While performing job functions the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb, kneel, crouch and crawl. Additionally the employee is required to write, review and type reports, compile data, operate a pc, communicate, listen, and assess information. The employee may move about the office complex, work aboard ships and may travel to other office locations. Able to lift, push, pull or move 10-15 pounds and occasionally 25 pounds. The employee is required to walk to the dock, ascend and descend the vessel. This position regularly travels domestically and internationally. Visual requirements include distant, close and vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
The environment includes work inside/outside the office, travel to other offices, as well as domestic, international, and shipboard travel. A high noise level is possible if visiting shipboard or offsite locations. Ability to travel an estimated 60% of the time. This position requires the ability to work in both an office and marine (ship) environment. As mentioned before, this position requires an office space where private conversations can take place in order to protect the confidentiality of our patients.
