About the role:

The Manufacturing Engineering and Programs organization is a newly formed group within Global Manufacturing (GMFG). As a Senior Manager of Manufacturing Engineering Programs, you will be responsible and accountable to lead and deliver global nuclear fuel manufacturing project execution across Westinghouse Electric Corporation's (WEC) fuel manufacturing facilities in the US, UK & Sweden operations. You will guide progress and execution of multiple projects based on program needs. The Senior Program Manager owns the global manufacturing scope of new product introduction and is accountable for leading project execution. You will ensure the delivery of products to our customers while meeting safety and financial goals. Guide interaction and coordination between Fuel Engineering, Nuclear Fuel Project Managers, Product Delivery & Commercial Managers, Supply Chain, SIOP, Plant Manufacturing Managers, Global Quality, and Supplier or Customer teams on project deliverables, issues, and resolution. Program budget accountability ranges from $1M - $20M. You will report to the Director of MFG Engineering and Programs and support the role remotely with 25 - 35% travel between global manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comprehend entire program scope, such as commercial, licensing, regulatory and initiate appropriate scope within the manufacturing program scope.
  • Develop project task-based schedules and track/report milestone progress against the program management plan.
  • Deploy strategies for optimizing and streamlining legacy fuel manufacturing operations in partnership with manufacturing sites and functional leads.
  • Analyze existing processes and identify value-added and non-value-added activities to solve design challenges.
  • Manage project risks and opportunities to closure in partnership with functional leads and Program Managers. Identify issues, propose solutions and lead recovery plans to closure.
  • Implement within project schedule and budget, tracking expenses and identifying cost-savings opportunities. Communicate with partners, providing updates on project milestones, risks, critical escalations and issues.
  • Present project reports, status updates, and performance metrics to senior leadership and important partners.
  • Use configuration control and change management to maintain technical discipline of the program.
  • Identify areas of improvement or gaps in current processes and develop strategies to promote efficiency and productivity.
  • Compare actual performance against planned performance to identify variances and help manage tasks on project planning.
  • Collaborate with program team members and departments to establish plans and schedules that allocate resources to best achieve program requirements and service internal and external client or customer needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • 10 - 15 years of experience in Nuclear / Automotive / Heavy Engineering / Metals Industry / Manufacturing / Assembly.
  • Experience with program management and new product introduction into manufacturing. Analytical capabilities to identify schedule critical paths and improve engineering/supply chain timelines. Demonstrated skills in internal operational partner relationship management.
  • Advanced level PMI certification in Program Management.
  • Experience in Engineering Component Manufacturing systems.
  • Experience with engineering product development including design phases, manufacturing processes and global supply chain management. Familiarization with Kaizen, Lean Operations, FMEA’s, DMAIC, PDCA cycles.
  • Familiarization with Microsoft Project, P6 or other scheduling software.
