Our Insurance Business Transformation team is at the centre of this modernisation agenda, helping clients make more informed decisions on how to optimise their businesses, drive growth, realise efficiencies and improve their customer journeys.

This could be re-designing or simplifying operating models, improving processes, implementing data and technology-driven solutions, often guiding a client through the lifecycle of their transformation programme.

Drawing on its reputation for providing deep industry experience and leading consulting services to the Insurance market, EY is now expanding its Insurance Business Transformation team.

The team’s purpose is to create a lasting, positive impact on the Insurance industry through an inclusive, diverse, and connected team of driven individuals, with the courage to lead and inspire those around them. To enable this purpose, we are seeking exceptional, passionate individuals to join our team.

As a member of our Insurance Business Transformation practice, you will work as part of our growing team to:

  • Lead the design and delivery of complex operational improvement and business transformation projects on engagements for across our Specialty, General and Life & Health Insurance clients
  • Manage large cross-functional engagement teams and third parties
  • Liaise with service line teams, functional specialists and Area Partners
  • Leverage your own network and relationships to further enhance EY’s reputation in the market
  • Manage a portfolio of top tier insurance clients
  • Identify opportunities for new business and lead proposals and bids
  • Support the development of our thought leadership and market propositions to offer insight and innovation to our clients
  • Manage engagement profitability and meet individual target revenues
  • Monitor EY internal operational activities (chargeability, billing, quality and risk management)
  • Support the growth, skills and diversity of our teams
  • Act as a career counsellor to a small team (1-5 people) and be involved in the recruitment process across graduates, executives and managers

Skills and attributes for success

  • Significant experience leading transformation projects within the GI, Specialty or Health Insurance market, managing multi-workstream, cross-functional delivery
  • Significant experience of working in a client facing or consulting role
  • Strong track record in project delivery, with an ability to develop and deliver high quality output against project objectives and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to lead successful teams to win and deliver complex projects
  • Experience of leading business development
  • Good understanding of the insurance value chain (including sales, distribution, customer management, underwriting, claims management, policy servicing and reinsurance)
  • Excellent client stakeholder management skills and ability to build relationships
  • Intellectual strength, curiosity and flexibility to navigate ambiguous client requirements, question the status quo, rapidly understand complex problems and rationalise these into a workable solution
  • Flexibility to travel to, and work in, other locations is essential

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Operational and Cost improvement experience – Experience in the design and development of new operating models including an understanding of the key cost drivers in a (re)insurance business, how Digital Transformation, and the key applications and technology platforms that underpin this, is affecting Insurers, Brokers and other market participants within the Insurance industry
  • Business Transformation experience – including end-to-end business and technology-driven change through the full lifecycle (discovery, business requirements definition, design and implementation) with an understanding of testing, post go-live support and run
  • Revenue enhancement / distribution strategy experience, including market assessment, opportunity identification, channel dynamics – such as digital channels -and business planning
  • A demonstrable understanding of the Specialty, General or Life, Pensions & Health Insurance markets, commercial dynamics and change levers
  • The ambition to build / develop a career in advising insurance clients around operational improvement and revenue enhancement at EY
