How will you make an impact in this role?

This position is part of the Enterprise Communications & MarTech Experiences (ECMX) team, which is a global organization that sits within Enterprise Digital & Data Solutions (EDDS). It is American Express’ marketing services center of excellence with the charter of powering high quality, efficient, user-centric digital marketing experiences that accelerate business growth through optimized enterprise MarTech & MarOps solutions.

This role is an exciting opportunity to join the Enterprise Marketing Products team within ECMX. The vision of EMP is to create frictionless, intuitive colleague journeys in support of innovative and impactful customer experience marketing, achieved via configurable, composable and automated technology underpinned by best-in-class product management. The team is focused on building customer centric digital experiences and deliver business outcomes through innovation and optimization. This role will focus on the strategic priorities and governance associated with our Email Marketing capabilities. The successful candidate will lead go-to-market implementation and product operations associated with all Email Marketing channel advancements and will operate as a critical advocate across cross-functional stakeholders for customer experience and risk mitigation within and across the channel by driving uplifts to our Email Marketing channel governance processes.

The ideal candidate for this role will be highly customer centric strategic thinker, able to drive innovation based on deep insights to customer needs. She/he will be an outcome focused fast learner who enjoys a fast-paced environment, and a strong collaborator who can inspire and engage stakeholders about the potential of our solutions to meet each partner’s needs and support the ongoing transformation of the Enterprise Marketing Email Channel.

This role reports to the Director of the Marketing Channels Team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead various cross-functional taskforces and provide effective program management for priority Enterprise initiatives requiring collaboration and co-ordination across ECMX, EDDS, Technologies and our Enterprise business partners.
  • Partner with Global Services Management (GSM) and procurement teams to support vendor management across external Email partners, in line with portfolio goals: includes contractual renegotiations, response for proposals (RFPs) and periodic due diligence of regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrating a detailed understanding of the Marketing Execution lifecycle and value chains globally, in order to identify areas of optimization and transformation.
  • Investing significant time interacting with customers to identify needs, opportunities, gaps, and solutions to address. Demonstrate the ability to translate business needs and requirements into technical solutions.
  • Digesting complex information and synthesizing into compelling business cases to drive product strategy and investment.
  • Creating clear and compelling articulations of the Email Marketing Channel strategy and associated definition of success tied to company and organizational outcomes.
  • Development of an end-to-end governance framework for the observability and health monitoring of the Email Marketing channel.
  • Establishing robust and clearly articulated outcomes and key results (OKRs) to ensure that all development is specific, measurable and meaningful with the customer at the core.
  • Working in close partnership across the ECMX leadership team to ensure coordinated product development and a deep understanding of the role of the Email Marketing channel across the E2E marketing value chains.
  • Demonstrating a mature ability to negotiate and employ the confidence to appropriately assess and align upon trade-offs when required. Be an ever-present advocate for the team in support of prioritization and removing roadblocks.
  • Partnering with engineering partners, establishing a clear architectural vision for the Email Marketing channel to ensure that all parties are aware of the channel’s role and associated technological boundaries.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience working in digital product development with experience launching digital experiences from start to finish.
  • Passionate about digital products and associated Product operations
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders (and time-zones) across the US, EMEA, APAC and more.
  • Desire to have fun and work on a fast-paced, high performing team
  • Skilled in Agile product development methodologies and comfortable with collaboration tools.
  • Leads work with an external perspective and keeps up with industry trends
  • Experience with Product Management in a matrixed, digital organization with a focus on working cross-functionally with stakeholders to communicate and evangelize product vision
  • Global and cultural mindset; experience working with international teams and time zones
  • Identifies as a self-starter and has a track record of delivering high-quality work in a structured, methodological manner
  • High degree of accountability, integrity, and conscientiousness
  • High intellectual curiosity, with excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills; strong expertise in business writing
