Overview

  • We are seeking an experienced Material or Device Scientist with management experience to establish a new Device Physics team as part of the R&D group.
  • The Senior Manager Device Physics will be responsible for leading material science and device physics programs for existing and upcoming technology nodes, working closely with teams across R&D, Technology, and Operations.

Key tasks

  • Set up, develop, and coordinate advanced characterization programs for semiconductor materials and devices using techniques like X-ray diffractometers, spectrometers, spectrophotometers, profilometers, X-ray diffraction, UV-Vis-NIR absorption/transmission/reflection, photoluminescence, and surface roughness.
  • Respond to characterization, modelling, and analysis needs within a fast-paced R&D environment.
  • Train and guide team members on advanced characterization methods and instruments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process experts, electrical/mechanical/software engineers, external parties, and equipment vendors.
  • Communicate findings and present analysis to technical staff.
  • Exemplify teamwork, strong work ethic, and the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Leverage expertise in semiconductor physics, materials science, and hands-on R&D experience, particularly in thin film technologies.
  • Lead novel device characterization and modelling projects by working with stakeholders across technology and operations to develop advanced semiconductor components.

Qualifications and training

  • Degree or post-graduate in solid state physics, material science, electronics, or other relevant disciplines; or equivalent experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of semiconductor physics, material sciences, device characterization, and modelling.

Skills and experience

  • Expertise in setting up, maintaining, and coordinating advanced material characterization programs, e.g. X-ray diffractometers, spectrometers, profilometers, XPS, SIMS, FTIR, and UV-VIS.
  • Experience in DC and AC electrical tests and associated data analysis statistical methods and tools.
  • Experience in responding to characterization, modelling, and analysis needs in a fast-paced R&D environment.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and progress multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, both interpersonal within the team and external facing.
  • Experience in leading projects interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Team leading/management experience is desired although not essential.
