Your new role at NewDay

In this exciting role you will lead the affordability team within credit management, making sure we have the right affordability assessment approach using the right data for each customer so that NewDay can make appropriate lending decisions. As team lead, you will use your analytical abilities to deliver excellent business and customer outcomes.

As a data-driven organisation we want to ensure that we are leading the way when it comes to affordability, this team will ensure we give our strategy colleagues the most accurate assessment for each and every customer to incorporate in their credit decisions at each stage of the customer journey. A role to make real impact!

In your first 12 months you'll deliver

  • Help deliver our newest iteration of affordability strategy for the customer lending team making use of the latest products as the owner of affordability decisions across NewDay
  • Close review of the newly implemented Open Banking journey across all our lending strategies to understand benefits and development areas
  • Development of a full suite of automated affordability-based monitoring
  • Review of affordability-based models ensuring they remain fit for purpose
  • Ensuring all affordability based complaints are promptly responded to in line with our automated process in support of the complaints team

What you'll bring

We need knowledge, experience + expertise in:

  • University degree level or equivalent experience with highly numerate and analytical background
  • A strategic problem solver; highly intellectual with commercial competence
  • High level of self-motivation and working to the highest standard within agreed timelines
  • Strong coding experience (Preferably Python or SQL), proficient with all Microsoft Office products as well as Experience in Tableau or Power BI tools

And would love you to know or learn:

  • Experience of Open Banking or Affordability assessments
  • Experience of lending within a Credit Card portfolio
  • Accepts and responds positively within an agile environment with changing priorities

Where next?

The Affordability team shapes and moulds the agenda for affordability within the credit management team. Our focus for 2025 is to complete delivery of open banking across all affordability journeys as well as to realise our recent work to "In-House" our Income / Expenditure assessment. The affordability product team will be responsible for all affordability decisions and so we will always be horizon scanning for new product and opportunities in the market.
