Senior Legal Counsel (M&A and Commercial - Energy)

Location - London (Hybrid)

Salary - £100,000 - £120,000 per annum

Purpose

A key legal role providing high-quality, commercially focused legal advice on M&A transactions, capital projects, and commercial contracts. The role involves drafting, negotiating, and advising on complex, high-value agreements, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. The position primarily supports UK-based teams but also extends internationally.

Key Responsibilities

1. Deliver expert legal advice on M&A transactions, capital projects, and commercial contracts.
2. Lead the negotiation and drafting of legal agreements, including business acquisitions and commercial contracts.
3. Identify and mitigate legal risks while maintaining a commercially pragmatic approach.
4. Manage legal budgets and oversee external counsel to ensure cost efficiency.
5. Support and develop junior legal team members through knowledge sharing and training.
6. Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations while aligning legal strategies with business objectives.
7. Collaborate closely with internal teams, external advisers, regulators, and contract counterparties.
