SOLICITOR - LEGAL TEAM 2 - 6 PQE


THE ROLE:
An opportunity has arisen for a commercial lawyer to join Liverpool FC. Reporting to the Vice President - Legal, the intention is for the successful candidate to focus on procurement (acting as "business partner" for the Procurement Department) and business operations (including, for example, compliance (particularly data protection compliance), insurance and personal injury claims), whilst also being required to provide advice on partnerships, retail, licensing and/or digital media agreements.


No experience of working in the football / sports industry is required and we encourage applications from applicants from general commercial private practice departments and commercial in-house departments.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE - REQUIREMENTS:


  1. Experience / training in a national or international law firm, or in a large, fast-paced business.
  2. Strong academic background with at least an upper second-class degree from a reputable university.
  3. Extensive experience of drafting and negotiating commercial contracts (including bespoke and complex contracts) is essential, as is a high level of attention to detail.
  4. Strong working knowledge of data protection.
  5. Demonstrable commercial acumen.
  6. Capable of balancing legal position vs commercial / operational goals and advising accordingly.
  7. Ability to successfully build relationships with business stakeholders.
  8. Ability to communicate legal advice in a straightforward manner to business stakeholders.
  9. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines on occasion.
  10. Ability to manage a long list of live matters on a day-to-day basis and prioritise accordingly.
  11. Ability to work on tasks with minimal supervision.
  12. Team player - the successful candidate will be working alongside two other senior lawyers and a trainee.
