Job description

LAW Absolute is recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority based in North London, for an experienced planning lawyer on a permanent basis.

You will advise the council, its cabinet and committee members on a broad range of planning, environment, regeneration, and highways matters. This is a senior lawyer role and will include line management responsibility of up to 2 FTE members of staff. The role reports into the chief lawyer.

Previous UK local government experience is an essential requirement.

To apply you will be:

  1. An England and Wales qualified solicitor, barrister or chartered legal executive.
  2. Able to demonstrate previous experience handling a caseload of planning matters in a local government environment.
  3. Able to advise and represent the council at tribunal, if required, and be able to deputise in the absence of the chief lawyer.
  4. Able to line manage two junior members of staff.
  5. Able to attend the office in North London on a hybrid basis of 2-3 days per week.

The salary for this role is £59,739 per annum.
